4, 7, 8 breathing is pretty simple and can really reduce tension.
Inhale for 4 seconds
Hold for 7 seconds
Exhale for 8 seconds
If that seems like too much, just breathe in normally, hold for a couple seconds and try to double the exhale. You will reap the benefits.
This is another collaboration with my wife and, to be quite honest, I'd never heard of 4, 7, 8 breathing until she brought it to my attention. I have, however, been doubling my exhale in times of stress for years. I do it countless times a day. Any time I get that heavy feeling in my chest, I take a deep breath and slowly exhale. Game changer.
