Thoughtcrime is a word coined by George Orwell in his 1949 dystopian novel 1984. It describes a person's politically unorthodox thoughts, such as unspoken beliefs and doubts that contradict the tenets of Ingsoc (English Socialism), the dominant ideology of Oceania. In the official language of Newspeak, the word crimethink describes the intellectual actions of a person who entertains and holds politically unacceptable thoughts; thus the government of the Party controls the speech, the actions and the thoughts of the citizens of Oceania. In contemporary English usage, the word thoughtcrime describes beliefs that are contrary to accepted norms of society, and is used to describe theological concepts, such as disbelief and idolatry, and the rejection of an ideology.
If you don't make a choice, life will do it for you.
Decision Makers are fun and I'll keep making them but the reality is you already know what choice you want to make but you're likely paralyzed by the fear of making the wrong decision. This little "worry" coin will remind you to go with your gut and move forward with confidence. Make the decision and do what needs to be done to make it the right one. If it turns out to be a "mistake", learn from it and shift gears.

Motivation won't get you there. You need persistence to achieve any long term goal. You gotta Keep on Keepin' on!
The triskelion symbolizes perseverance, representing the idea of moving forward despite obstacles and challenges. The symbol consists of three spirals, often depicted in a triangular formation, representing the three aspects of human existence: mind, body, and spirit.

My dad passed away from multiple cancers in 2018. In early 2018, I machined a "worry coin" for him and stamped Fuck cancer on it. He'd carry it with him during his chemo. I shared it with folks who then expressed interest so I had this more affordable version minted by my friends at Shire Post Mint so I could give them away. In 2019 I gave away almost 1000 of these coins but it got to be too time consuming and costly to do so I shelved the project for the time being. I'm not sure why it took me so long to come up with this idea as it seems pretty obvious.
I'll cover the cost of the coin if you can cover the cost of shipping. I don't mind folks getting more than one if they have a good place for them but please just be respectful and not wasteful but don't be shy! I want you guys to have and share these so please don't feel guilty about taking them for free.
I think about this quote pretty much all day, every day.
The Enso (Zen circle) on the flip side symbolizes completeness, discipline, and the moment. It suggests mindfulness and presence in every action, no matter how mundane.
I'm hammering the edges (and my thumbs) by hand so each coin will vary.

The balance between chaos and order is essential for creativity and personal growth, as it allows for structure while also embracing unpredictability. Too much order can stifle innovation, while too much chaos can lead to confusion; finding a middle ground fosters exploration and meaningful engagement.

For generations, we’ve heard:
“A jack of all trades is a master of none.”
A phrase spoken as quiet criticism, a caution against divided focus.
In time, a second line emerged — added not to erase the first, but to restore its balance:
“But oftentimes better than a master of one.”
This coin unites both halves.
On one face, rendered in ornate, old-world detail, the original phrase stands framed in the grandeur of guild crests and traditional craft — a tribute to the age when mastery meant singular devotion.
Turn it over, and the design shifts. Clean lines. Modern symmetry. A philosophical counterpoint engraved in bold clarity. The added line — born later — transforms limitation into perspective.
Together, they tell a fuller truth.
Versatility is not weakness.
Breadth is not compromise.
To know many paths is, oftentimes, to understand the whole.

Years ago, I helped my wife launch her brand, Gemma Raffo. A brand born out adversity and pain with the hope of helping others get through difficult times. Unfortunately, trying to run two websites became overwhelming so we temporarily shut it down with the intention of bringing it back "when time allowed". I've finally accepted that time will never allow so we are going to combine the brands and release products, new and old, here on the J. L. L. site.
This is a reintroduction of her first coin, The Passing Coin, but with a twist. A special edition CNC machined and deep laser engraved version. We will be bringing back the original soon but I was too excited about this version not to launch it.
The Passing Coin is just that, it is a coin created to keep for yourself and pass on to those you love. We created the Passing Coin as a symbol of love, strength and reassurance, and to solidify the everlasting bond with those you care about. I love having something tangible to hold closely, acting as a constant reminder that no matter what the current situation may be in our lives, our love is safe and can withstand anything life may throw our way. We can hold onto the coin during the darkest of hours, whether feeling alone and apart from those we love most, nervous about starting a new chapter in life, living thousands of miles away for an unknown amount of time, no matter the circumstance, the Passing Coin reminds you that someone loves you. I carry this coin with me wherever I go, whether in my pocket or in my wallet, I never leave without it. My girls carry one as well, which in turn keeps the bond and connection between us, and is a constant reminder that our love will never go away. I love this coin, it can be given for a thousand different reasons to a thousand different people, and whatever the circumstance, the Passing Coin’s purpose will always remain; No matter where you are, I am here with you, and this too shall pass.

Inspired by the familiar comfort of a bygone era’s optimism, Memento Tenax offers a quieter, more enduring truth—tenacity is not always graceful, nor is it without cost. On one side, a lone skeletal familiar clings to a weathered limb, a stark emblem of survival against time itself. On the reverse, an ornate banner bears a simple command: Hang in there, baby.
Rendered in a style reminiscent of medieval engravings and antique keepsakes, this piece balances solemnity with a touch of dark humor—an heirloom for those who understand that perseverance is, above all, an act of will.
