This is Lisa's design so here's a backstory and description from her...
This coin was born from my grief, and a long time coming.
I never found an image that held what I was feeling. Grief looks different on everyone, yet it carries a familiar weight.
Recently, I saw a simple drawing: a girl lying on the ground, her cheek resting against the earth. Beneath her, deep in the soil, the animal she loved rested below. It struck something in me, that quiet connection between above and below. Between the living and the gone.
Grief does not move out of the body.
It settles.
It becomes part of the bones.
Even seven years after losing my dad suddenly to an aortic dissection, it still lives in me. The sadness does not disappear. It changes shape.
Over the past year, working as a hospice nurse, I’ve had the honor of being present in the most intimate moments of life’s end, standing beside families in their darkest hours, witnessing final breaths. Whether death comes suddenly or slowly, one truth remains: loss feels surreal.
And still, the world continues.
People laugh. Traffic moves. The sun rises.
You carry something heavy while the earth keeps turning.
This coin represents that split.
The two bleeding hearts symbolize the divide between the living and the dead. One remains above the ground, still beating, still asked to continue. The other rests beneath the soil, returned to silence, to memory.
But they are not separate.
Roots connect them, just as love connects us beyond physical presence. What is buried is not gone. It moves through everything unseen: the ground beneath us, the air we breathe, the life we carry forward.
The wolves stand as guardians of that bond, half above and half below the soil, symbolizing devotion that does not dissolve when someone is gone. Grief exists in two worlds at once: the life that continues, and the life that changed forever.
Above the living heart, flowers bloom and birds rise, not because the pain has ended, but because life insists on continuing.
This coin began as a tribute to my father.
But it belongs to anyone who has loved and lost.
Because even when someone is no longer here, the connection remains.
The bond remains.

Handcrafted from solid 260 Brass, this single-finger form is wrapped in a coiling Japanese dragon — a symbol of protection, strength, and quiet authority. Scales rise along the edge like armor. Clouds gather in deep relief. The dragon encircles the center as if guarding what lies within.
The Bastion is built with deliberate mass and balanced proportions, designed to feel substantial in the hand — grounded, steady, intentional. The patina settles into the recesses, highlighting every carved detail and giving the piece the character of something discovered rather than manufactured.
Each Bastion is individually marked and part of an evolving series.
This first edition, the Dragon, represents vigilance and resilience — an emblem of strength carried quietly.
