Very cool! So exciting to have it ordered and on the way, not knowing what it might be.
The mystery box did not disappoint. I am much happier having bought it, than if I didn’t! That’s all you can ask when buying an unknown.
This was such a fun experience to be a part of! The thrill of opening up the mystery box and the elation to find what I found in it... Absolutely worth it! Will be on the look out for these in the future.

In this last mystery box, I missed the larger one. I have been looking forward to more tops. I started giving them as gifts to my family and friends. I have been purchasing from Anthony for a while. He might remember me as the person that quoted him from the Talmud. Anyways I was able to secure a small box and today I got this baby top which is nothing short of adorable. The design is excellent and different which is something I look for for my tops to be a bit different from each other. Hopefully, he makes more as I missed his dad top replica and I really wanted one. I Am connected to this store and love all his items. Always looking forward to what he comes up with next. These quality items will last many lifetimes and make for great keepsakes. From the moment you open the box the care of the cardboard with the logo and the carrying bag, everything feels premium and done with care. This Christmas many of my friends are getting items from his store. Give them a try I promise you won't be disappointed. If I had one request I wished the tops incorporated his logo somewhere may be on the very top of the handle. It's a very cool logo and most of his other items have it. I like the fact that it's American-made and handmade by Anthony.

The June mystery box is the first one that I have ordered. I love the concept and it was joyful to wonder what it would be...
The contents ended up being what I was secretly hoping for (although I’m sure that I would have been happy with pretty much anything from J.L. Lawson, having purchased a few tops and some other products over the years)...
Opened the box to find a beautifully machined medium sized top! I’m not really one for writing reviews all that often, but this was such a pleasant experience. The top is beautiful, but I have also found it to be just really fun one to spin for some reason. I have a decent little collection from a variety of makers, and this little top is a keeper! Hard to describe what makes it such a fun one, but a big part of it is the feeling that it really just wants to go! Love the sound it makes and the ease of spinning!
I picked up the last mystery box, and it was my 3rd, besides some stuff I liked and bought from the store. I was less then satisfied with this top, and feel that it was placed in a MB because it wouldn’t sell on its own merits. It takes real work to get it to spin, and even then it’s not what I’d expect.
Your stuff is fun, and I’ll probably continue buying, but just thought I’d share my thoughts.

Very sorry to hear about your disappointment in your latest box. I'd never put a product in the Mystery Box that I couldn't normally sell and this is the first negative response from that box so it's possible you received a faulty top. I'm going to refund that order and I'll happily make you a replacement if you like. You just have to email me some photos so I can refresh my memory.

What is there to say about Anthony that hasn’t been said or shown through his craftsmanship?
Dig his emails, don’t seem manufactured, instead relatable and heartfelt.
If you have had the chance to see his work in person, you might have marveled at it like I did.
I’ve enjoyed these mystery boxes he has been doing. The most recent, number 4 by my count, was a treat. A spectacular top that made my day.

I finally took the bait on The Labor Day Mystery Box...AND NOW I’M HOOKED! Anthony, thanks for giving us all an opportunity to have a piece of your work in such a cool manner. The top is sweet and from the very first spin (of many) the day I received it, I was so impressed your tops are hand turned. Great looks and balance. Can’t wait for the next release!
If you're wanting a nice piece, but looking to spend a little less, this is what I'd recommend. Solid discount and a little extra fun in the form of the surprise. I was a little dissapointed with the finish on the brass as it wasn't like the finish I had on any of my other products with Anthony, but he was helpful in working out a solution to get a better finish.
When it comes to Mystery Boxes you never know what you are going to get but I have purchased two in the past couple drops and have never been disappointed. Anthony's work is always exceptional and whatever you end up getting you will not be disappointed.

Watching a well weighted, balanced top spin for minutes is one of life’s quiet joys. My family and I have enjoyed many JL Lawson tops over the years and never have they disappointed—whether purchased outright or surprised in a Mystery box. The spinning worry coins are a new absolute fav!
At first I was a bit nervous about not knowing what I was getting or ir I was getting something I already have. But when it arrived it was very exciting to open the package and getting such a nice piece. I really enjoyed the experience!
These folks are what I hope is a revival of true craftsmanship. I have purchased several items. Most importantly a ring for my wife for or Anniversary. The personal service from Anthony was amazing.

My daughter and I have LOVED everything we got from the Mystery and the regular purchases. We’ve loved JLL since the original Kickstarter. There’s never been higher quality, beautifully made and exquisitely minimalist design. We’d go broke on his tops if my wife didn’t intervene. We love them and use them in fun and funny videos too.
What could be better than a mystery box? I mystery box from J.L. Lawson. While the quality and creativity are always there with a Lawson product, when you purchase a mystery box you get a surprise to top it off! There's no way you could go wrong when you purchase one of these. Great gift idea for others or for yourself!
What a fantastic concept! I received the first mystery box and was blown away! I just love it.
I wish I could order one each week, but I will have to restrain myself to maybe one a month.
And that is only due to the exchange rate as I live in New Zealand!
